My name is Raine Tyler. I have had many interests throughout my life such as my passion for music and my love of flying airplanes however the one constant passion has always been my love and devotion to animals of all kinds.
I have always had animal companions starting with horses and including cattle, lots of dogs, birds, etc. and even a ferret or two. I started riding horses when I was very young. As I grew into adulthood and became a mother myself I ran an outfitting business in the mountains of New Mexico and built solar adobes, during which time I was accompanied by my faithful working dogs.
Early on I developed and owned several kennels on of which was Chamisa Kennels. At Chamisa Kennels We raised high quality English Setters, both working and show Laverack and Llewellin setters. The first Setter I purchased for my Kennel was Lady Blue, a blue belton. I drove to NY and picked out this dog for myself from European foundation stock. This started my appreciation and love of the setters.
Later I bought Heartland kennels and specialized in training blue and tan dobermans for security purposes. When I had my daughters I decided to devote my time in raising them and gave up my kennel work. Even so, animals continued to be a large part of my life. As soon as my daughters were old enough, they became involved and excelled in the U.S. Pony Club. My older daughter completed all levels of the USPC and proceeded to become an Olympic hopeful before deciding to take a break from competition to teach English and equestrian skills to students in Japan and travel around the world with her husband. During this time my younger daughter Monet, desperately wanted her own unique dog. While doing research she discovered the IRWS and decided that this was the dog she wanted. She worked and saved for a year until she had enough money to buy her puppy. When Travis arrived we immediately fell in love with him. He is unlike any other dog we have known. He has an unbelievable personality and an incredibly caring spirit. He has enriched both our lived more than I can say .
I joined the IRWSA in 1997 along with my daughter Monet, who was the first junior member in the US club. Since then I have had the honor to serve on the board for a year. I am very interested in preserving the breed and keeping the bloodlines pure. The good temperament, physical stamina and their natural hunting skills for which they have been originally bred should be preserved. Having personally experienced the warmth and beauty of this dog, I hope that I can contribute to the promotion and preservation of this special breed.
"A dog is not "almost human," and I know of no greater insult to the canine race than to describe it as such."
